Forecast by Meteorologist Eric Pritchett:
Comfortable temperatures this Labor Day weekend. While we still need to watch the track of Tropical Storm Hermine, the computer model guidance continues to suggest most of the effects will stay well to our east, with the highest impacts to coastal regions. The storm will continue to track northeast along the Carolina coast through Saturday afternoon, before moving back over the Atlantic Ocean and slowing down off the Delmarva coast, this weekend. The storm may become extra tropical and linger off the Mid-Atlantic coast and south of New England into early next week. This system looks to bring major coastal flooding issues to portions of the Mid-Atlantic coastline up through southern New England. Tropical Storm Warnings are posted for the coast. For our area of Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley, mostly cloudy skies with a few spotty showers Saturday, mainly across the Piedmont. Temperatures in the 70s and breezy, north to northeast winds 10-15 mph, with some gusts over 20 mph. Sunday, sun and clouds, isolated shower possible, with highs in the upper 70s. As Hermine slowly moves further away to the northeast next week, high pressure builds in bringing more sunshine with and warmer temperatures.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, spot shower toward morning, lows 58-63. Saturday: Mostly cloudy, few spotty showers possible, breezy, highs 74-78. Sunday: Mostly cloudy, isolated spot shower possible, highs 75-79. Labor Day Monday: Mostly sunny, warmer, highs 81-85. Tuesday: Mostly sunny and warm, highs 83-88. Wednesday: Mostly sunny, warm, highs 86-90. Thursday: Mostly sunny, hot and humid, highs 88-93. Friday: Sun and clouds, hot and humid, highs 88-93.
