Arctic Cargo Vessels Have Served Long in Most Demanding Circumstances

The 20 000 GT arctic cargo vessels, in total 19 units were developed, designed and delivered from Turku Shipyard and Helsinki (Valmet) Shipyard in course of 80´s.

The arctic multipurpose vessels were used for the transportation of piece goods, freight on wheels, containers, grain, coal and ore. The vessels are self-sufficient in temperatures as low as -50 grades Celcius. Loading and unloading can take place on the ice, with transport to and from the land by hovercraft - like tugs, developed by shipyard`s and Russian experts.
