A virgin sanctuary lying in the Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj district of Orissa, the Hadagarh Wildlife Sanctuary is an ideal destination for rediscovering oneself in the midst of nature. Its close proximity to the Hadagarh reservoir of Salandi dam renders the land fertile; richness in mixed deciduous forests has resulted in a variety of wildlife including leopard, tiger, fishing cat, jungle cat, elephant, langur, pangolin and hyena. A large number of Muggar Crocodiles are sheltered by the sanctuary. Various species of birds and reptiles also seek refuge in the lush green forests of the reserve. A total of 156 species belonging to 56 families were identified. Twenty two species were migratory comprising 21 winter visitors and one summer visitor.
