There are many facets of attractions in Orissa and the Orissa sulfur springs or the hot water springs add an altogether new dimension to a tour of the state. The significance of the Orissa sulfur springs are manifold, besides its touristic and curative powers, these springs also occupy a position of religious and devotional importance in the country. There are a number of Orissa sulfur springs or hot water springs.

Tarabalo is famous for a cluster of hot springs dotted over an area of 8 acres. Tarabalo is located in Nayagarh district of Orissa. It is said to be the most beautiful hot water springs area of Orissa. There are about 70 spots in and around Tarabalo, which emanate the hot water. It is the largest thermal field in Orissa and the second largest in India.  Sulphur water of the springs having certain medicinal properties. According to the locals  different skin diseases such as scabies, allergies and muscle pain, swelling of muscles etc are cured in these waters. The villagers also use this water for agricultural purposes by canalizing the water to near by croplands.

Besides the clusters of hot sulfur springs, Tarabalo is well known for the scenic beauty of the region. It is an ideal place for a holiday with its cool climate and beautiful natural vistas. The panoramic views and the greenery of the nature around makes Tarabalo an interesting picnic spot. A fair is organized every year on Maghasthami at goddess Keltheshwari Temple when 7000-8000 pilgrim visit this place. At present, Tarabalo is a small settlement surrounded by vast agricultural tracts.

It is located at a distance of 75 Kilometers from the capital city of Bhubaneshwar.
