Just four years on, Apple has finally won a ban on the sale of Samsung devices that it claimed were infringing on its patents â the only problem is those devices are really old.
A judge today signed a court order formally banning the sale of nine Samsung devices:
- Samsung Admire
- Galaxy Nexus
- Galaxy Note
- Galaxy Note II
- Galaxy S II
- Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch
- Galaxy S II Skyrocket
- Galaxy S III

Those devices are more than four years old now, and were at the center of a long-standing dispute with Samsung over the âslide to unlockâ feature, autocorrect and âdata linkingâ functionality.
The court order today says that Samsung must cease sales of the nine devices in the US immediately â even though theyâve likely been off the shelves for years at this point.
The win also doesnât apply to Samsungâs more modern devices, but it does likely set a precedent for further cases in the future.
Still, the victory is largely a symbolic one for Apple which has been fighting for years over what Jony Ive, Appleâs Chief Design officer, previously labeled as âlazy thieving.â
