Indian owned multinational Tata started importing their Mercedes engined pick up trucks into the UK in 1994, appealing to a budget conscious customer. A small number of imports continued until 2005, by which time they also imported their Indigo hatchback models relabeled as CityRovers. Import ceased with the demise of Rover in 2005 and Tata have not imported any cars since but in 2008 Tata bought Jaguar Land Rover off Ford.
