Saskatchewan Region

Welcome to the Saskatchewan Region of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC).

The department employs about 210 people in Saskatchewan at four locations — Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Fort Qu'Appelle.

As one of the 10 regional offices, the Saskatchewan Region works closely with Saskatchewan's 70 First Nations in the funding and delivery of "essential" programs – education, government, social assistance, child and family services and housing, amongst others. To accomplish this goal we work with First Nations governments and organizations, the private sector, and other levels of government to promote social and economic development in First Nations communities.

Treaties 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 cover the Province of Saskatchewan. The total registered Indian population of Saskatchewan First Nations as of December 31, 2015 is 150,254.
