Calls for proposals

As of July 6, 2015, new calls for proposals issued by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) will be available on this webpage. Posting calls for proposals in one location will make it easier for applicants to keep track of new opportunities.

Before submitting a proposal, please review the program’s national guidelines and all of the criteria carefully to ensure eligibility.

Open Calls

2017-2018 Northern Contaminants Program

The call for proposals for research projects on long-range contaminants in the Canadian Arctic and related activities is now open for applications for funding during the 2017-2018 fiscal year. Eligible applications should focus on high priority issues in northern regions where people are exposed to these contaminants at levels of concern to health authorities.

The deadline to submit a proposal is 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) on January 10, 2017. Successful applications will be announced in spring 2017.

Closed Calls

First Nations and Inuit Skills Link Program

INAC is launching a second 2016 call for proposals for the First Nations and Inuit Skills Link Program to support initiatives that assist young people in acquiring the essential skills that help them gain employment, function well in the work place, and learn about job and career options. This call for proposals is open to First Nation and Inuit communities, governments and organizations. Not-for-profit associations, and private sector employers are also invited to participate.

First Nations education community-level discussions

As part of First Nations education transformation, the Government of Canada is providing up to $3.1 million to coordinate and support parent and community-level discussions on First Nations kindergarten to grade 12 education. This call for proposals is open to First Nations organizations and First Nations who are not represented by an organization.

The deadline to submit a proposal is midnight Eastern Time (ET) on November 25, 2016.

On-Reserve Housing Funds 2016-2017
INAC is launching a call for proposals to support immediate needs, capacity development and innovation for on-reserve housing.

The deadline to submit a proposal for phase 3 of funding is September 30, 2016.
The deadline to submit a proposal for phase 2 of funding was July 29, 2016.
The deadline to submit a proposal for phase 1 of funding was June 23, 2016.

First Nations and Inuit Skills Link Program

INAC is launching a call for proposals for the First Nations and Inuit Skills Link Program to support initiatives that assist young people in acquiring the essential skills that help them gain employment, function well in the work place, and learn about job and career options. This call for proposals is open to First Nation and Inuit governments and Inuit governments and organizations, not-for-profit associations, and private sector employers

The deadline to submit a proposal is midnight Eastern Time (ET) on May 1, 2016.

First Nation Student Success Program (FNSSP) 2016-2017
INAC is launching a call for proposals to support First Nation educators on-reserve in their efforts to meet students' needs and improve student and school results. Applications to the First Nation Student Success Program must support education activities between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2018.

The deadline to submit a proposal is midnight Eastern Time (ET) on April 4, 2016.

2016-2017 Family Violence Prevention Program (off-reserve)
INAC is launching a call for proposals for family violence prevention activities off-reserve. Funding under the Family Violence Prevention Program is available to support projects addressing violence between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017.

The deadline to submit a proposal is midnight Eastern Time (ET) on March 3, 2016.

Post Secondary Partnerships Program, 2016-2017
INAC is launching a call for proposals for the design and delivery of post-secondary education courses or programs tailored for First Nation and Inuit students.

The deadline to submit a proposal is midnight local time on March 2, 2016.

Education Partnerships Program and First Nations Student Success Program (only structural readiness activities), 2016-2017
INAC is launching a call for proposals for First Nation student education activities. Applications to the Education Partnerships Program and structural readiness under the First Nation Student Success Program must support education activities between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017.

The deadline to submit a proposal is midnight Eastern Time (ET) on January 27, 2016.

2016-2017 Northern Contaminants Program
The call for proposals for research projects on long-range contaminants in the Canadian Arctic and related activities is open for applications for funding between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. Long-range contaminants are transported to the Arctic through atmospheric and oceanic processes from other parts of the world. Eligible applications must be on high priority issues in northern regions where people are exposed to these contaminants at levels of concern to health authorities.

The deadline to submit a proposal is 11:59 PM Eastern Time (ET) on January 12, 2016.

Strong Schools, Successful Students Initiative 2015-2016
Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada is launching a call for proposals for First Nation student education projects to be carried out between September 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016. Proposals can be submitted under either the First Nation Student Success program or the Education Partnerships program.

The deadline to submit a proposal is midnight Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on July 26, 2015.

Aboriginal Representative Organizations – Project-based funding 2015-2016
A directed call for project proposals is now open to five specific National Aboriginal Organizations to work with the National Association of Friendship Centres on a violence prevention and awareness mobile platform. This is a first step in fulfilling a commitment, made by all parties, at the February 2015 National Roundtable on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, to collaborate on a prevention and awareness campaign.

The deadline to submit a proposal is July 6, 2015, 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
