The mere sight of these makes you want to make yourself a hot drink, slip these on and relax on the sofa. And yes, we can vouch for the fact that they are as cosy as they look, thanks to the mass of faux fur both inside and out.
3. Soak & Sleep Sheepskin Fur Booties Slippers: £62, Soak & Sleep
There are plenty of sheepskin fur booties on the market, but many are either too sturdy or too soft – or they just don’t last. Made from Australian sheepskin with a merino fleece inner, we found these tick all the right boxes, as well as being true to size. The chestnut colour is really versatile too.

These feel, and look, more expensive than they are – and they come beautifully gift-wrapped too. The rubber sole is suitable for all floor types, while the bow and button gives a nice finish to these faux fur-trimmed, knitted slippers.
5. Skechers BOBS Cherish Wonder Fall Slippers: £29.97, QVC
These are surprisingly lightweight for such a sturdy slipper and the full faux lining means they keep your whole foot comfy. The sole is chunky and hardwearing, meaning you can probably get away with popping outside in them every now and then. There are six colourways, ranging from neutrals to bolds, of which our favourite is charcoal.
6. Cozy Boots Microwavable Slipper Boots: £14.99, Getting Personal
If you suffer from cold feet in the winter months, these may just become your new best friend. Simply bung them in microwave for half-a-minute (we did each one separately as they are big) and they warm your feet up, keeping them toasty for hours on end. They’re on the cumbersome side, but who cares – they are super-soft and utterly marvellous.
7. UGG Scuffette II: £75, UGG
For years, UGG has been the outdoor footwear brand of choice for a good proportion of women in Britain. Their slippers are every bit as well-made, durable and comfy, with these soft suede ones featuring sheepskin collar and breathable, natural wool interior. Available in colours ranging from natural to funky.
8. New Look Black Velvet Slipper Shoes: £15.99, New Look
Ever forgotten to take off your slippers before leaving the house? You’ll have no worries if you do that with these as they could almost pass for outdoor slip-ons anyway – and nice ones at that. Great for women who prefer a firmer slipper to see them through the colder months.
9. Joules Homestead Slippers: £19.95, Joules
These warm bootie slippers are just the ticket for slipping your feet into on these chillier mornings. Available in three different designs – stripes, florals and our favourite, stars – they are lovely and soft and the suede base means you won’t slip around, even on hard floors.
10. River Island Cream Snake Print Mule Slippers: £16, River Island
Striking just the right balance between comfort and glamour, this splendid pair of faux fur trim slippers will add a bit of glitz to your nightwear wardrobe. They’re as light as a feather, yet with a thick sole – and if you’re not sure which size to opt for, our advice is to go smaller as they come up on the large side.
11. Boden Velvet Bow Slippers: £30, Boden
Available in a whopping five colour combos, these pretty, feminine and luxurious slippers have a velvet outer and soft fur lining, finished off with a large ribbon on the toe. They are machine washable – and came up a treat in our test – but we suggest ordering in one size bigger as they come up on the small side.
12. Next Ginger Fox Ballerina Slippers: £12, Next
Inject a bit of fun into your nightwear collection with a pair of these animal-themed slippers – and if you’re not keen on foxes, there are six different animals in the collection. They’re high quality, true to size and very comfortable, although the soles are on the soft side, compared to some others.
13. Clarks Eskimo Kiki: £30, Clarks
For some women, nothing other than moccasins will do for those winter days and evenings at home. We tried out a few styles, but these soft grey suede ones, with coloured lace detailing, were the best fit by far, as well as being the most durable.
