Peugeot started imports early into their production at the turn of the century with a more concentrated modern import strategy starting in 1953. Earning a reputation for engineering solidity and mechanical durability Peugeot cars became more popular on British roads in the late 50’s with the introduction of the 403 models. Peugeot took over both Citroen and Chrysler in the 70’s and continue selling cars on their showroom appeal.
The Peugeot 104 was a 4 door saloon and latterly 3 and 5 door hatchback supermini and produced between 1972 and 1988, with UK imports ceasing in 1983 with the introduction of the Peugeot 205.
The Peugeot 205 was a supermini 3 door and 5 door hatchback produced from 1983 to 1998. UK imports stopped in 1996.
The Peugeot 204 is a small family car produced between 1965 and 1976, it was available as a 4 door saloon, 5 door estate and 3 door coupe. The Cabriolet was not officially imported. The Peugeot 304 was based on the 204, in larger bodyshell. It was offered in the same body configurations, with all versions being imported from 1969 to 1980.
The Peugeot 305 is a small family car produced from 1977 to 1989. It was offered as a four-door saloon, five-door estate, and as a three-door van body derivative. Imports started in 1978.
The Peugeot 203 is a large family car which was produced between 1948 and 1960. Imports into the UK started in 1953.
The Peugeot 403 was produced between May 1955 and 1966. Only saloons and estates were officially imported.
The Peugeot 404 was a large family car produced in France from 1960 to 1975, with commercial versions continuing across the world into the 90’s. All versions available, 4 door saloon, 5 door estate, coupe, convertible as well as a pick-up was sold in the UK.
The Peugeot 504 was produced between in France 1968 and 1983, with licensed production continuing until 2006. UK imports started in 1969, with saloon and estate versions being phased out in 1982. Pick up versions continue until 1993.
The Peugeot 505 is a large family car produced in France from 1979 to 1992, somewhat typically the range was built well into the 90’s under license.
The Peugeot 604 was a 4 door executive saloon car produced from 1975 to 1985. UK imports start in 1976.
The 605 was a saloon built on the same platform as the Citroën XM, from 1989 to 1999, UK sales start in 1990 until 1998.
The Peugeot J9 was manufactured from January 1981 until 1991, although were not officially imported in to the UK.
