Although Seat first imported their cars into the UK in 1985, Fiat had imported a small number of Seat assembled 133 models in 1975 for a year. Seats re-introduction to the UK market was heralded by the Ibiza, a Fiat based Giugiaro design with Porsche produced engines. Other models however were restyled Fiats and sales would have started to dwindle, had it not been for the intervention and take over of Volkswagen later in the decade. The VW managed cars were considerably better and helped resurrect the company for the future.
