Yugo/Zastava

Yugoslavian based company started making Fiat cars under licence in 1954. The first UK imports arrived in 1982 in LHD form, with cars being converted to RHD (and fitted with upgraded equipment) on British soil. Sales of the Fiat 128 based 311/511 models were sluggish with the later Fiat 127 based Yugo 45 models filling a small niche. Production ceased in 1992 due the outbreak of civil war but following the end of the conflict the factory regrouped and continued to make Fiat cars for local consumption.
