The Retro-Rides forum was one of the first web forums to cater for the UK retro car scene, which broadly covered every car, from every decade with the unified theme of inspration and passion. What the forum also seeked out to do was to allow those modified cars that were not generally seen in the magazines, with an emphasis on open minded ideas and an appeciation of rare and unusual cars. Searching through the readers rides of the forum illustrates the innovation and the ability to try something different.
The classic car market was still mostly catering for the traditional, where as David Murphy’s Retro-Rides forum attracted and welcomes a mix of modified, stock, unloved, classic and most importantly like minded-owners of old cars. The Classic car scene has now caught up with the ethos of the Retro-Rides vibe but the forum continues to grow, and in terms the live events the Gathering should be considered one of the broadest and friendliest events in the UK. The meets up are at the Shelsley Walsh hillclimb in Worcestershire every August.
