Toyota owned Daihatsu were the first Japanese manufacturer to import cars into the UK in 1965, although it wasn’t a successful venture and the company withdrew after a couple of years. It was re-introduced back in 1978 with the off road F20 series and later the 3 cylinder Charade. Several generations followed, including a variety of technically interesting cars and off roaders. The Brand ceased exporting all models to Europe in 2011.
