Innocenti were an Italian company known for producing motor scooters but an agreement between the company and BMC in 1961 started assembly of cars under licence. A fair amount of design input was permitted for these mainland Europe only cars. By 1975 BL run out of money and the company was sold to De Tomaso, but sales were slowing down and eventually exports were wound down. The company survived until 1996, after assembling various Fiats, Maseratis and Yugos.
