The Renault brand has been a consistent name on UK roads, with the first post war imports arriving in 1953, although a few cars were also assembled for export during this period in West London. Renault’s progression into FWD technology and clever body packaging has always maintained strong sales, particularly in the small car car sector. Many of the more conventional models have been largely ignored by the classic car market, but models such as the 4, 5 and 16 are recognised as trend setters.

The Renault Juvaquatre is a small family car produced between 1937 and 1960. Its not thought that any models were produced in RHD.

The Renault 4CV is a rear-engined 4-door economy supermini manufactured from August 1947 through July 1961.

The Renault 4, also known as the 4L was a 5 door hatchback economy car produced between 1961 and 1992, although imports into the UK stopped in 1986. It was the first front-wheel drive family car produced by Renault.

The Twingo was a 3 door hatchback made only in LHD form two-door from 1993 to 2007. It was never officially imported into the UK.

The Renault 5 was a supermini produced from 1972 to 1985, it was sold as a 3 and 5 door hatchback and provided the basis for the mid engine Turbo model.

The Renault 7 was a LHD 4-door saloon version of the Renault 5, produced and sold in Spain by Renault’s subsidiary from 1974 to 1984. It was not imported into the UK.

The second generation Renault 5, often referred to as the Supercinq appeared in 1984 with RHD models imports from early 1985. It was offered in the same body formats as the previous model. Production ended in 1996.

The Renault 6 is a small 5 door family car produced between 1968 and 1986, it was based on the Renault 4. European production stopped in 1980, but continued in South America for another 6 years.

Renault Dauphine was a rear-engined 4-door saloon and the successor to the Renault 4CV. Its production ran from 1956 until 1967.

The Renault Caravelle was a sports car based on the Dauphine and was produced between 1958 and 1968. UK imports started in 1959. Outside of North America and Britain it was, until 1962, marketed under the nameplate Renault Floride.

The rear engined 4 door saloon Renault 8 was launched in 1962 with the 10, a more upmarket version of the 8, joining it in 1965. The Renault 8 ceased production in 1973 and the 10 was replaced by the FWD Renault 12 in 1971.

The Renault 9 and Renault 11 are small family cars produced in 1981–1988 in a 4 door saloon (Renault 9) and a 3 door and 5 door hatchback (Renault 11) configuration.

The Renault 12 is a medium sized family car manufactured in 1969 until 1980. UK imports started in 1970. Available as a 4 door saloon and 5 door estate. It was also produced under licence in many countries around the globe into the early 21st century.

The Renault 15 and Renault 17 are two variations of the same coupe designed and built between 1971 and 1979.

The Renault Frégate is an executive saloon car produced between 1951 and 1960. A tiny number of UK imports started in 1953.

The Renault 16 is a large family 5 door hatchback produced between 1965 and 1980.

The Renault 18 was a large family car produced between 1978 and 1989, although production for Latin American markets continued to 1994. UK imports stopped in 1986, and replaced by the Renault 21.

The Renault 21 is a large family car produced between 1986 and 1994. It is noticeable for offering transverse (in the estate version) and in line for the saloon engine configurations.

The Renault Fuego was a sport compact car that was produced from 1980 to 1986, replacing the Renault 15 and 17 coupes. Latin American production continued to 1992.

The Renault 20 and Renault 30 are two executive 5 door hatchbacks produced between 1975 and 1984. Both cars were almost identical with regard to sheet metal and mechanicals; the R20, imported in 1976 was the smaller-engined and the cheaper of the two with differing headlight configuration.

The Renault 25 is an executive car produced by the French automaker Renault from 1983 to 1992. Imports into the UK started in 1984.

The Renault based Alpine A110 was a sports car produced by the French manufacturer Alpine from 1961 to 1977. None were made in RHD, and wasn’t officially imported into the UK.

The Alpine A310 is a sports car built from 1971 to 1984. Like its predecessor, it wasn’t an official import and were built with LHD.

The Renault Alpine GTA was a sports coupe automobile produced by the Renault-owned French manufacturer Alpine between 1984 and 1991. Imports started in 1985. Its successor was badged the A610 and produced from 1991 to 1995.
