Not a commonly known brand in the UK, Barkas were a East German manufacturer of vans and minibuses. The first models were produced in 1961 and continued production with updated engines for 30 years. None were officially exported beyond the Eastern bloc, but several have made it across the continent since the collapse of the iron curtain.
