A relative latecomer to UK roads, GM owned Isuzu chose to initially only import the Giugiaro designed Piazza into the UK in 1985, but sales struggled with the original importers. Other Isuzu models of the period had models that were covered by other GM products like Opel and Vauxhall, hence the lack of a larger range policy. The 4×4 Trooper models arrived after a new concessionaire reorganised the imports in 1987 and made more of an impact. Isuzu continue this single passenger car policy in the UK, along with imports of light commercials.
