Started as a kit car manufacturer, Wales based Gilbern started producing cars with BMC parts in 1959. The designs and finishing were considerably better than their roots suggested, which improved into the 60’s. The somewhat expensive cars had credible sports abilities and were rewarded with increasing sales with each new model but the combination of take overs and VAT increase’s killed off the company in 1973.
