A formidable Mini competitor introduced in 1963, with a totally different concept for a small car. At the time rear engine technology was common, and this spacious and good handling car offered a genuine alternative to the innovate BLMC product. Offered in several body styles, with some potent engine options the car sadly was let down by the lack of development. Typically for a rootes product it was offered under Hillman, Singer and Sunbeam names, offering different levels of trims and performance. Production ended in 1976, by then the whole Rootes/Chrysler concern was in financial trouble.
