GFOA of NJ Awards Two Scholarship for 2014
Each year the Government Finance Officers Association of New Jersey (GFOA of NJ) offers scholarships to students based on financial assistance and academic performance. GFOA of N.J. scholarships aim to encourage and promote the advancement of education by providing scholarships and other assistance in institutions of higher learning to applicants. Students can receive up to $2,500.00 per individual.
This year, the scholarship committee received five applications in total. GFOA of N.J. scholarships aim to encourage and promote the advancement of education by providing scholarships and other assistance in institutions of higher learning to children of deceased or disabled persons who have worked in government in the State of New Jersey. This year the committee recommendations were approved by the board of the GFOA to award two scholarships. The awards were given out in the late fall of this year. We congratulate all of our applicants and look forward to awarding scholarships again next year!
The deadline for 2015 GFOA of N.J. scholarship application has been extended to August 15, 2015.

GFOA of N.J. Awards Four Scholarships for 2013
On April 19, 2013, the Government Finance Office of New Jersey (GFOA
of N.J.) presented scholarships to four select candidates during its
Spring Mini-Conference in New Brunswick at the Rutgers University Labor
Education Center. Russell R. Forenza, Chair of the Scholarship
Committee, presented the annual GFOA of N.J. Scholarships to students
deserving of financial assistance as they pursue their endeavors into
higher education.
The Scholarship Committee was proud to announce the awarding of the
2013 GFOA of N.J. scholarships to four outstanding students - Emily S.
Favaro, Justine E. Cillo, Jessica A. Cillo, and James Pittaro. Each
candidate exhibited high achievement in their studies, accompanied by
excellent references. The Association was happy to award $1,500 to each
of our winners to help them realize their scholastic goals.
Although many of the applicants were deserving of an award, the four
individuals were selected based upon their financial situations and
scholastic achievements.
The purpose of the GFOA of N.J.’s Scholarship is to encourage and
promote the advancement of education in order to aid students to achieve
their future goals and aspirations by providing scholarships and other
assistance in institutions of higher learning to children of deceased or
disabled persons who have worked in government in the State of New
Jersey.
This year's awards continue the GFOA of N.J.’s altruistic legacy,
with a scholarship program that has totaled over $50,000 in grants to
students over the years.
