Diplomatic Ties
The Republic of the Marshall Islands has diplomatic ties with over 80 countries, three of which have diplomatic missions in Majuro: the United States, Japan, and the Republic of China (Taiwan). All are located in Long Island.

Stewart, who was born in 1952, was nominated by President Barack Obama to be US Ambassador to RMI on November 5, 2015 wand as confirmed by the US Senate on May 17, 2016. Stewart served as US Ambassador to Belarus from August 14, 2006 to March 12, 2008 and as USAmbassador to Laos from November 2010 to August 2013.
