Fodor's Review

Decorated in a sophisticated and eclectic "Bohemian" style, this European-style property is Downtown Orlando's only Four Diamond luxury hotel. It showcases hundreds of pieces of art, along with a rare Imperial Grand Bösendorfer piano, played by jazz pianists in the popular Bösendorfer Lounge. Rooms have dark-wood furnishings with brushed-silver accents and deluxe linens. An in-house restaurant, Boheme, offers an upscale dining experience and a Jazz Brunch on Sundays,

while a variety of restaurants and bars are within a few blocks. So is the new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and the Amway Center, home of the Orlando Magic.

Grand Bohemian Hotel Review

Okay, I picked this hotel for a recent business trip stay based on it's appearance in a Samantha Brown/Travel Channel program featuring non-Disney Orlando. I really wanted to stay as far away from all things people usually go to Orlando for. With that said the Grand Bohemian (GBH) is located smack in the center of downtown Orlando. If you must venture to the parks, it takes about 5 minutes to hit Interstate 4 with the park areas being an additional

15 to 25 minute drive away. If you have more time, Orange Ave which the hotel is located on runs North and South and will take you to most destinations too but at a more leisurely pace. The main entrance to the hotel is actually on a side street off of Orange Ave. There is only valet parking available with the drop and pickup located there. GBH has one of the best valet services ever. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get my car and I never called ahead. If I told them I was going out again within the hour, they usually spotted my car so that it was immediately available when I returned. This service extended to the staff as well. You couldn't walk by anybody from the desk clerks to the maids without receiving a cheery greeting. I experienced only two problems during my stay. The first was slow service in the Lounge when I first arrived on Sunday afternoon. The person working there apologized and explained they were short and she was working the entire area alone. It was not upsetting to me and beyond the time spent, everything else was great. The other problem was the WIFI connection with my Mac. I was on for two days but then couldn't connect for the rest of my stay. Nobody could figure it out and they tried, both through a phone help line and also personally. In the end, they comped us a breakfast in their main restaurant for the trouble which was nice. And there's an attached Starbucks with entrance from the GBH's lobby so I could still check my email through that service. Speaking of the restaurant, I had one dinner and several breakfasts there and have no complaints. Everything was excellent. The food in the lounge is equally great but then it is coming from the same kitchen. I've never been to Orlando before and probably won't have the need to return but if I do, I would certainly make the GBH my base again. It is well located to just about everything. And they really do make you feel like a celebrity during your visit. It's really a great place. Or maybe I should say Grand!

Grand Bohemian Review

My Fiancée wanted to get married at the Grand Bohemian. Let me start by saying I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. We held your hotel to high expectations, but were disappointed time and time again throughout our stay. This was for my Fiancée’s birthday. We wanted to check the place out before we decided on a wedding date. I made reservations on the phone. I specifically asked the representative to reserve a top floor Jacuzzi Suit with a nice view.

I also specifically asked her if the rooms had DVD players. The representative assured me that all the Suit’s were on the top floor and EVERY room had a DVD player? So when we checked into the hotel, we were escorted to our room on the 12th floor. The room was Dirty! The bed was not made; with the sheets, comforter, and dirty towels on the floor! Wow! So this is how our stay at your glorious hotel begins? I then looked for the DVD player which was promised to me. No DVD player to be found. The bell-boy said he would take care of it. So the bell-boy then advises us that the only room that is “clean,” is on the 7th floor. So we are escorted down to the 7th floor, and settle into a different Suit with a substandard view that I was looking for. Ten minutes later, a knock on our door. A man walks in with this Huge T.V. stand with drapes on it? It has a DVD player wired onto it? “Where am I supposed to put this,” I asked the man. He replied, “I don’t know? But it’s here now.” Then he turned around and walked out the door! This is ridiculous! Now we have this bulky outdated T.V. stand taking up half of our room. So we called down to the front desk to have them take the “DVD player,” slash ‘T.V. stand’ away. Very high class, might I add. You see because my Fiancée wanted to sleep in and watch movies the next morning. I then called down to the front desk to get a late check out, and they advised me that “It would be no problem; I just had to call back at 6:30 a.m. to request a late check out.” So we went out Downtown, and came back to the Hotel at 2:30 a.m. We called down to the front desk to have some extra towels brought up to the room. The towels never came! Our stay gets even more high class by the minute! So I set my alarm for “6:30 a.m.,” then call down to the front desk to get a late check out. The representative advised me that there were going to be no late check outs. But wait, here’s the kicker! The ice machine on our floor was out of service. Right? Again, my expectations of the Grand Bohemian our spit back in my face. I would also like to add, that the ice machine on our floor was out of service. I would like to thank you for showing me the Grand Bohemian’s true colors. I am grateful to have spent my money on a 5-star Hotel, and to receive 1-star service. I will never stay at your hotel again! I will also, Not be planning my Wedding at a truly despicable, appalling, and disgraceful establishment. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
