Hi all, I am taking my three kids (10, 14, 15) to Thailand in March Break for 2 weeks and am looking for some tips and recommendations. I would love to do a mix of culture and nature as well as a week on a gorgeous beach. I don't like too touristy or over-developed, and my kids are fit and seasoned travelers. A day or two in Bangkok, perhaps a couple of days in the Gulf, a few days north and then the second week Phuket area or Islands. I would love some unique accommodation recommendations. suggest anantara riverside hotel in bkk because of the pool--kids will love.
khao lak is a nice beach area, so is hua hin.
Phuket is overrun...
And I'd recommend more than a couple of days in Bangkok. Bangkok is the cultural center of the country with wonderful Buddhist temples, museums, and such. It also has great shopping for local crafts. And, as it is your first stop, you will be contending with jet lag - basically, you'll do a day for night switch.
If you want a week on the beach, that doesn't leave a lot of time for other locations. Many people like Chiang Mai and you could spend a few days there.
If you and your children are interested in nature then a trip to Kaeng Krachan national park is an excellent idea. If you are brave enough you can camp in the jungle, or find a nearby guesthouse or hotel and visit from there.

Thank you everyone! I love those ideas. I'm going to do some research and narrow down some options. Also thinking maybe fly into Bangkok and right away head to gulf / ko samui area for 5 days, then Chiang Mai area 5 days, and end with a beach stay on the west side for final 5 days.
I would avoid Chiang Mai in March. It is the burning season and most years the air quality is pretty bad across the north of the country. We were there in 2015 and visibility in CM was down to 100mts due to the smoke.
Prachuap Khiri Khan for the beach.....you can't beat Ao Maneo beach, which is in a unique spot inside the Wing 5 Thai Royal Air Force Base on the southern edgecof town. Avoid Friday to Sunday though, as it's busy with Bangkok weekenders.
