HYDERABAD: South Zone police conducts cordon and search operation only after geo-tagging crime-prone areas to curb crime. Identification of such areas was done across south zone.
Speaking to TOI, deputy commissioner of police (south zone) V Satyanarayana said, "At least 25 applications were received from the residents of various colonies in Old City, requesting police to launch cordon and search operations. These are pending and they will be taken up shortly. "
"After success of these operations, members of various colonies and a MLA too requested police to conduct cordon and search operations as a deterrence. Now, organised crimes like rowdyism, land grab, food adulteration, fake certificate rackets and illicit liquor sale have been brought under control," he added.
On Saturday, South Zone police nabbed 120 rowdy-sheeters and counselled them. There are 519 rowdy-sheeters in south zone limits, but 120 are still committing crimes in Cyberabad and Rachakonda.
During cordon and search operations, police rescued 400 children who were employed as child labourers and also traced stolen vehicles.
