It's Time to Start Planning Your March Disability Awareness Month Activity!
Disability Awareness Month is almost here! This March, thousands of business leaders, educators, community organizations and families across Indiana will help spread the message of inclusion and acceptance. Want to host your own Disability Awareness Month activity? The Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities offers a free planning kit with theme-specific and other resource materials to help you plan your activities. Order online at IndianaDisabilityAwareness.org. All orders are due by February 10, 2018.
Hoosier Leadership Institute Offers Exciting Opportunity to Develop Organizational Leaders in the Disability Field
The Governor's Council for People with Disabilities is excited to announce the new Hoosier Leadership Institute! This intensive, week-long Leadership Institute, offered by the Council and the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities, will be held April 8-13, 2018.
A select group of future leaders convene with a renowned faculty of national experts on progressive supports for people with disabilities. Participants explore leadership in organizations that provide, advocate for, or fund community-based services and supports for people disabilities and their families.

Applications are now being accepted for the next Partners in Policymaking Academy!
More than 600 Hoosiers have graduated from the Indiana Partners in Policymaking Academy since it began in 1991. Partners in Policymaking is a national leadership training program for adults with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities.The program teaches leadership skills and techniques to develop positive partnerships with elected officials, school personnel and other individuals who make policy decisions about services and supports that are offered by state and local agencies and schools.
