Recall Roundup: Mazda 3, Mazda 6 Recalled to Address Rusty Parking Brakes

During the past week, Aston Martin Lagonda of North America (Aston Martin) and Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) issued recalls of various light passenger vehicles. The largest recall comes from Mazda and affects 227,814 Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 vehicles from the 2014, 2015, and 2016 model years. The three recalls from Aston Martin affect a total of 500 V8 Vantage vehicles.

2011-2012 Aston Martin V8 Vantage
  • Number of vehicles affected: 315
  • Issue: Updated transmission and engine control software may conflict with the pre-existing clutch settings and may cause the transmission to shift to neutral, or enable clutch protection mode, resulting in abrupt gear shifts.
  • Remedy: Aston Martin will notify owners, and dealers will reinstall clutch system software free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin July 7, 2017. Owners may contact Aston Martin customer service at 1-949-379-3100.

2012 Aston Martin V8 Vantage

  • Number of vehicles affected: 6
  • Issue: The affected vehicles are equipped with 6-speed auto-shift manual (ASM) transmissions. A connector for the transmission fluid lines may break, resulting in a hydraulic fluid leak.
  • Remedy: Aston Martin will notify owners, and dealers will replace the clutch pipe, connector assembly, and related brackets free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin July 7, 2017. Owners may contact Aston Martin customer service at 1-949-379-3100.

2011-2014 Aston Martin V8 Vantage

  • Number of vehicles affected: 179
  • Issue: The affected vehicles are equipped with 7-speed auto-shift manual (ASM) "SportShift II" transmissions. A connector for the clutch fluid line may break, resulting in a hydraulic fluid leak.
  • Remedy: Aston Martin will notify owners, and dealers will install a support bracket to hold the pipe securely in position free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin July 7, 2017. Owners may contact Aston Martin customer service at 1-949-379-3100.

2014-2016 Mazda 6

  • Number of vehicles affected: 227,814
  • Issue: Water could possibly enter the brake caliper, causing the parking brake actuator shaft to corrode and possibly bind.
  • Remedy: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will check the parking brake actuator shafts, replacing any that are corroded, free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin August 21, 2017. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500.
