Ford Anglia, Popular & Prefect
The original Popular was a solid pre war design, used to tide Ford over until the company reassembled and sorted out a new generation of cars. The new Prefect was a trim level higher up to the similar Anglia range, while the Popular was the most basic and therefore entry level baby Ford car of the period. The 3 trim levels were rationalised with the replacement 1962 Anglia model, although the popular name tag was retained to signify base level versions of future 70’s and 80’s Fiesta and Escort models.
