Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Urges Game Developers To Embrace Subscription-Based Services

@Ralek85 Good points. Instagram wasn't making money for many years but what was more important was the growth of users. I don't think Netflix reached a saturation point in most of Europe. Its still on early stages in many countries. Also piracy (of tv series, movies, etc) is much higher in Europe than in US.

Anyway i agree that the business model is different. I just hope we will go to a subscription model in video games too. I think it will happen eventually (not completely) but not soon.

Well a standard fee (like 10-15$) for month for full access to all titles (like Netflix and Spotify) would be a new and more affordable way to play games. Is the industry ready for this though? Don't think most developers will benefit from such model.

Musicians get paid peanuts for Spotify Still they embrace the publicity and get money to pay the bills from concerts. Game developers don't have that luxury

Subscription service to only play 35 year old video games (NES) is garbage though

Re: Diablo III Eternal Collection Officially Announced For Nintendo Switch

Guys stop asking for Starcraft. Starcraft wil suck at Switch as much as it did on n64 cause of the controls. You can't play RTS without mouse (or maybe a trackpad). There was a version of Red Alert on iPad on the early days but it was a failure. Red Alert, Age of Empires series, Starcraft. All great games but you can't play them properly on consoles.

Re: Nintendo Has Sold 19.67 Million Switch Consoles To Date

From techcrunch (can't agree more):
"The next part seems to be the hardest for Nintendo. Now that the Switch is a success, Nintendo needs to maintain it by building and supporting a robust ecosystem of games. And Nintendo cannot be the source of all the best games. Nintendo must court developers and publishers and keep them engaged in the advantages of the Switch gaming system. If it can do that, the Switch has a chance to be a generational product like the Wii before it."

a year on year drop after only the second year suggests momentum is slowing. Nintendo needs to stand up to the challenge and surprise us again. A price drop, streaming apps, gamecube games emulation, new third party games and exclusive third party games would help.
