Power Rangers has had somewhat of a resurgence in recent years with a live action movie in 2017. Now, nWay - the developer and publisher behind hit multiplayer mobile game Power Rangers: Legacy Wars - is teaming up with Hasbro and Lionsgate to release Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid on multiple platforms including the Switch eShop, this April.
The cross-platform fighting game features cross-progression capabilities and is described as easy to learn but hard to master, while delivering a modern take on the Power Rangers franchise. Players will be able to test their skills online against friends and players on the other side of the world - with new content and game modes to be released throughout the year.
You can pre-order a standard copy of the game for $19.99 or Digital Collector's Edition for $39.99. Both versions include the bonus V2 Green Ranger skin and digital artbook. The Collector's Edition also includes the Season One Pass (including three new characters, their arcade story, and warrior skin), an exclusive Lord Drakkon Evo II fighter and a selection of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Pink Ranger character skins. Take a look below:

More details about the game, including a release date, will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Shoulda been a beatemup, but then that requires level design
I want this to be good! But I can’t help but feel that the April launch time is horrid given the recent Mortal Kombat 11 hype.
This will be the biggest fighting game of April, not like there's any competition...
Er, What ?
Power Ranger on Switch ? 😆
Haven't play a Power Rangers game since the Super NES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, and Game Gear days so if they decide to make this worthwhile I might check it out.
Coincidentally, I've been looking for a fighting game featuring teenagers with attitude.
I hope they would include the Megazoids as playable characters as well. And this is from someone who enjoys the Super Sentai counterpart of this franchise.
ouch, rough day to announce your new fighter...
Go go power rangers! I'm looking forward to it but I do have some reservations about it though. Hopefully a collection of power rangers games is in the works.
Wow. Super ballsy going head to head against MK11. I guess this is a good alternative for those that aren't into MK's extreme gore though.
As sad as it sounds, i will buy this game regardless of quality .... don't judge me ...
Red Ranger since pre-school, 1v1 me
Man did they pick the wrong day to announce a fighting game.
@NinChocolate
That's literally what I thought this was until I saw the trailer.
Would be cool to have a beat em up power rangers and bring all the different versions together.
It's gonna suck either way. This property should of been helmed by somebody who knows how to create a good fighter like Capcom.
Oh and look, it's Jason David frank. That guy will never let go of the good ol green bean
I would have loved to seen an action adventure type game that, while not spanning all 25+ seasons, maybe at least somehow spanned the three (now four) different eras of the show.
Cross platform play, provided it works well, is an excellent idea for a fighting game. They generally don't have the largest active playerbases online so unifying them is a shrewd move. I hope more consider this approach going forward and for that reason alone it almost makes me want to give it a chance. However as others have said announcing this on the same day of the massively hyped MK11 reveal was either very brave or very foolish.
Shazam! In theatres and Power Rangers on Switch!? April is gonna be a fun month!😁😎
I'm not a fan of fighters, and I would prefer a beat 'em up to this, despite not being the biggest fan of those, either. I am glad to see the classic Rangers come back, but if it doesn't have a story, or it does, but Bulk & Skull aren't in it, then I'm passing on this.
@NinChocolate already is one, well lots of them.
Definitely gonna pre-order. I played the mobile game a bit, but I'm not a whale/dolphin and I hardly ever drop money on freemium games, so I can get behind a console version.
I really wish they'd just bring Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Fighting Edition over to the Switch. Just discovered this SNES gem a couple of days ago, a Power Rangers game has no right to be as good as that game is. Definitely recommend checking it out, one of my favorite fighting games on SNES.
As a hardcore Power Rangers fan, I'm looking forward to this, much moreso than I am to MK11 (even if this is likely gonna be the worse game of the two). Yet, I'm already disappointed in quite a few aspects. First off, it looks way too much like the "Legacy Wars" mobile game. So far so that they had to state on Twitter that this is not a direct port and has new mechanics - which is good. I want a fighting game proper, not a rock-paper-scissors simulator. The roster seems rather small at 15, considering the mobile game has some 60 characters in it. And of course, I hope they don't skimp out on the Megazords.
It's been a while since we've had good Power Rangers games. The two 3DS titles were average at best (the zord battles were the highlights). The Samurai game on Wii and DS was pretty good, especially on Wii, but that was Inti Creates.
I was hoping we might get MMPR: Mega Battle as well, but I guess that ship has sailed.
As for people bringing up the SNES titles (and the Fighting Edition) - with Natsume reworking first Wild Guns and now Ninja Warriors, I can see it happening. They did a ton of good Power Rangers games up until the mid-2000s.
As for having the balls to be revealed during the MK11 reveal - the game was leaked prior to the official announcement, so I guess they tried to make the best of it.
Well, we know Jason Frank will do anything for the series that made him famous 25 years ago.
Sorry but why'd you guys in NL had already covered Super Robot Wars T, and this one (Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid), but why did you ignore already released Kamen Rider Climax Scramble Zi-O exclusive for Switch only in Japan & Asia with English subs? Have NL guys already familiar with Kamen Rider western adaptations such as Saban Masked Rider (based on Black RX) and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight? (based on Ryuki). It also noting that Climax Scramble Zi-O already have a 1.2.0 update let players to unlock Kamen Rider Woz in few days ago, why did you guys don't let people know about that game?
It would be cool if Alpha was playable and or any of the villans / villan kaiju clay monsters reeta makes in the original.
As well as the zords
Or maybe have the zords be a form of special / ultimate attack for each ranger.
All in all the green rangers lighting looks cool and i look forward to playing as yellow pink & blue.
