Wharton PPI is committed to helping students explore summer internship opportunities in Washington, DC. Because most summer positions in DC are unpaid, we also provide funding to help make it feasible for students to pursue internships. Wharton PPI funded 63 internships in DC during the summer of 2018 .
Researching Internships - Getting Started
While internships in DC are abundant, most government offices and public policy organizations do not recruit on campus. Students who want to work in DC need to rely on a variety of resources when looking for internships, depending on the type of internship desired:

- Senate and House of Representatives Websites

After You Receive an Internship Offer
Once you have landed your DC internship, don’t forget to look at Wharton PPI for funding , if the position is unpaid or comes with only modest compensation. Several other offices at Penn also have summer funding programs, including:
Most DC internships also do not come with housing; it typically is left to students to find their own places to live for the summer. The documents below include many housing resources that students have found helpful for their housing search:
It also is never too early to start connecting with other Penn students that will be interning in DC. Penn in Washington organizes events and networking opportunities for all Penn students interning in DC. Wharton PPI provides similar opportunities for those students that receive funding from PPI for their internships.
