    A must read for anyone in publishing (and particularly for those crafting new policies and mandates): Reality has a surprising amount of detail "The more difficult your mission, the more details there will be that are critical to understand for success."

    people think it's bizarre, ironic, and funny when a frozen meat company points out the importance of critical thinking, but chances are the same message would never "go viral" if it was from a person. our society values entertainment over truth and that's a huge problem

    I understand why it's minimal. But, take a look at what is demanded of publishers even now much less over time and estimate the cost of receiving/processing that info on the cOAlition. How many data analysts is the cOAlition going to be hiring?

    Read the fine print. E.g. what info cOAlition S is collecting to determine if a journal will be a Transformative Journal? For year one, looks like a couple descriptive data points and say you agree to the rest. Apparently only CC-BY counts for this.

    Academics: switching to is vital to escape the sclerotic journal system. Also academics: Some of these pre-prints are terrible, we need to organize some sort of system whereby each article is checked by experts.
