We should be seeing a flood of articles about this any minute.
If this is a partnership with Neon, will this be a 4K venture? Curious what other titles are now on the table. Edit: confirmed!! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ELINcwkW...g&name=900x900 Last edited by Snicket; 12-06-2019 at 06:51 PM. |

Something about that press release bugs me, it almost comes off as a fan-made attempt at a press release. I also just find it really strange that Criterion and/or NEON wouldn't announce this publicly. Why go through the press only? I'm not doubting that it's real, I just find it all to be a little odd.

Is this the first film that is getting a direct Criterion release before being released on physical media by a different company? The two most recent films I remember getting Criterion release not long after being released are Roma (coming soon in 2020) and Boyhood (released about 9 months after initial blu-ray release), with Roma being available on Netflix and being released by Criterion the first time on physical media, and Boyhood being initially released by Universal Studios.

This film definitely fits the classic Criterion model. Hopefully this leads to deals with other indie distributors like A24 (Midsommar would make an excellent Criterion release). If they want other Neon titles, they should consider releasing Parasite, Revenge, Beach Rats, and I, Tonya.
