The Energy.Free.Room Programme (Energie.Frei.Raum) is a so-called "regulatory sandbox" where firms can test new business models to integrate renewable energy, storage and energy efficiency technologies into the energy system.

The programme targets SMEs,  large companies, universities and research institutes and other parties (e.g. municipalities and other (public) users) as well as non-scientific associations).

The programme has a budget of around 5 million euros.
