In light of the extraordinary impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdown measures, the IEA is publishing the most up-to-date possible data on its impact on different parts of the energy system. This page will collect the latest data on the impact on coal markets.
April 2020 coal exports from Indonesia hit lowest level since June 2009 amidst the coronavirus crisis. Comparing exports levels from 2015 to 2020, exports already dropped below average in February and March 2020, declining further in April 2020.
