Due to the ongoing circumstances surrounding coronavirus, we regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel all Teacher and School events advertised for 2020 at this moment. If you have purchased tickets to an event, please contact us on 0207 300 8090 or tickets@royalacademy.org.uk and include your order number to arrange a refund. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
The Royal Academy has been a voice for art and artists since 1768. Our exhibitions are internationally renowned and our rich history, Collection and buildings, make the Royal Academy an exciting space for students to learn. The RA is for everyone and we offer workshops and visits for students and teachers, as well as tailored sessions for children with special needs.

Ways to visit as a school group
All school visits are free
School guided tours
Guided tours are tailored for the specific needs of primary and secondary school children. Students are encouraged to think about art in new ways, to consider practice and intention, and articulate how they understand and experience the work. The tour will be 30 minutes and led by an expert guide with a focus on the national curriculum. Enquire below to arrange a tour.
Self-directed visits
Visit an exhibition without a guide and experience it at your own pace, focusing on works that you feel are most relevant for your students. You can make a visit to our new permanent Collections Gallery without booking.
Monday morning private views
At these private views your group of students will have the galleries to themselves to spread out, talk about and sketch artworks. These private views can be led by our team of gallery guides or self-directed. Private views are available on Monday mornings 9–10am.
Before you book make sure to read our guidelines.

At your school
We offer outreach sessions at your school, tailored to your students’ access requirements. In these sessions, experienced artist educators will visit your school and lead an art-making workshop customised to your students’ needs and interests. The sessions are free of charge and will last roughly 2 hours depending on the nature of your group.
Our outreach workshops are now fully booked for the 2019/2020 academic year. If you would like to receive updates on our programme for students with SEND please sign up to our mailing list.
At the RA
We welcome students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) for workshops at the RA. These are tailored to meet the requirements of each group and include multi-sensory exhibition tours, followed by handling and art-making sessions. Specially trained volunteers support these workshops, which take place between 10.30am and 2pm. Before booking, please make sure students will able to attend and have access to transport.
This programme is supported by The Lord Leonard and Lady Estelle Wolfson Foundation.
