A new campaign page by the Department for Education (DfE) provides explanations of the new GCSE grading system and other information about the reforms. It answers questions such as the following:
- Why are GCSEs in England changing?
- When are they changing?
- Why is the grading scale changing?
- What will be the impact on grades?
- What is considered a “standard” or “strong” pass?
The site also directs users to fact sheets for parents, employers, further and higher education institutions - for example, a fact sheet explainer that the DfE notes may be useful at parents evenings.
