Best of 2015Below is our current running tally of the most honored 2015 films and individuals, which will be updated daily throughout awards season (December - February) as new nominations and awards are announced. For each category, our points system works as follows:

  • 3 points for winning an award
  • 2 points for each runner-up (not common, but a few groups award a 2nd place prize)
  • 1 point for being nominated (and not winning), or for being listed for an award that does not pick a winner

Further down the page (below the overall standings tables) you can find all of the individual nominations and awards announced throughout awards season (from 54 different organizations overall).

It looks as if The Revenant has a lock on the Oscar for best picture. My choice would still be Spotlight, but I'm wondering if The Revenant didn't do better with critics, because many of them didn't have an opportunity to see it. Almost all of the critics awards are given before at least a few of the major contenders open wide, which has always baffled me. Do they get advance screeners or something?

Can I ask why Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) isn't placed on the lead actress scorecard? Although she has been nominated for both lead and supporting categories for that role, she has a higher score than Charlize Theron.

Fassbender won runner up at Central Ohio. He also won at Dublin. He also won at some other Phoenix ciritcs circle which is not reflected here. He won yesterday at Houston. Since he is not going to win any major award, it may be good to give him credit for the relatively minor ones that he does win

Are the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) International Awards eligible? Nominations went out today with almost all nominations aligning with other organizations.

    via THR:

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/carol-leads-nominations-australian-academy-852082

AFI | AACTA CEO, Damian Trewhella, said: "Now in our fifth year, the AACTA International Awards add a unique Australian voice to the International discussion of screen excellence. On the one hand, our young Academy’s Awards have become a reliable early forecaster of which performers, practitioners and productions will be recognised by our international peers via the Oscars and the BAFTAs. On the other hand, as our Chapter members are almost all Australians, they add a uniquely Australian perspective to the conversation, clearly evident this year, with a number of nominations for outstanding Australians who have excelled on the international stage.”

The AACTA International Awards are voted on by 150 Australians who are members of the organization’s international chapter, with many of them also members of the U.S Academy and BAFTA. This year’s AACTA International Award winners will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles on Jan. 29.

@Ali_Marashian It's not just about the story, it's about the entire screenplay.

Is Spotlight's story really better than Inside Out? notseen it yet, but I hardly think so.

Are there 2 separate Phoenix film critics awards? Perhaps one is online? The one HarryJ mentioned has been included, but there's also this site, via AwardsCircuit:

    http://www.phxcritics.com/awards

Gives off the impression it's independent, and perhaps an online society as opposed to the other PFCS's more official website? Not entirely sure.

Alicia Vikander has received 19 nominations for BSA for ex machina but here it indicates 9 nominations. Please also note that she has 9 wins & 1 runner up from the Utah film critics, here l see 2 runner up positions l have checked all the critics site where she is nominated but haven't found the the 2nd runner up position indicated here
Kristen Stewart has received 13 nominations for BSA for clouds of Sils Maria, 4 wins (including the just announced Florida films critics awards) 3 runner up positions from St Louis Film critics,Los Angeles film critics & the Toronto film critics

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was added on to the BFCA Critics Choice list for Best Picture.

Phoenix Film Critics Society needs to be uploaded:
    http://www.phoenixfilmcriticssociety.org/awards.html

Also, not sure if intentional or not, I noticed Tom McCarthy should have at least four Runners-Up (DFW Critics rank in order) but from a quick look, that's Indiana Film Journalists Association, Southeast Film Critics Association, Boston Society of Film Critics Awards, and Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association Awards (if that counts) if I'm not missing others.

Also, the Black Film Critics Circle announced their winners (not on the list here), but according to their site, they gave out awards in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, and now 2015. Maybe insignificant, but I don't know.
