Story is currently open to submissions in fiction and nonfiction. Our response time is ten to twelve weeks. All submissions must come through this system; writing sent to us via email will not be read.

General Submissions: Our online submission fee is $3.Story does not have any formal guidelines with regard to style, content, or length. We consider all "short" narrative length work, from flash fiction to novellas.

Story Foundation Prize: The contest fee is $25. Our annual reading period for this award is August 15th to December 15th. All entrants receive a one-year subscription to Story. Winners will be announced in March 2021.

Our regular payment rate is $10 per page upon publication.

All manuscripts should be double-spaced and previously unpublished.
