The best word to describe Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game would be “enthusiastic,” as most every corner of its surreal cartoon rendition of Toronto has a well-designed video game brawl to engage in or a cute detail to spot. Replaying old levels to grind and returning to shops for incremental upgrades keeps Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition from feeling purely linear, but it remains a focused and feisty beat’em up that successfully weathers the test of time.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition remains an excellent game. With the whole game and DLC bundled together, this is the definitive package for fans of the franchise and of beat 'em ups in general. There’s a lot to be in lesbians with here, from the stellar soundtrack to excellent moment to moment gameplay. It’s clearly an utterly unique labour of love from a talented group of people (who happen to work at Ubisoft).

Still an incredibly polished and fun beat ‘em up that has truly stood the test of time. While it’s slightly annoying that playing with the other characters requires you to replay entire levels and that the online features and a full playable fighter are currently locked behind Ubisoft’s ridiculous server sign-in, in the end this is still a great title deserving of its re-release. The combat is quick and fluid, the soundtrack is truly incredible and the multiplayer mode with friends makes the game even more fun.

If you, like me, loved River City Girls in 2019 and Streets of Rage 4 in 2020, and have maybe enjoyed the modern side-scrolling likes of 99 Vidas and Fight'N Rage, too, then even if you never played this one a decade ago, you need to be playing it now. And if you did play it back then, you already know whether or not you're grabbing this in 2020 2021 (haha), and all of these words haven't made a damn bit of difference.

In short, it could be the ideal opportunity for a nice reunion of Sex Bob-omb (for the uninitiated, Scott Pilgrim's indie rock band).
  6. Don't miss out! Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game is a great beat 'em up game, although some of the mechanics are a bit old fashioned.

Scott Pilgrim doesn’t have the same attention-grabbing appeal to the modern blockbusters and with many people still fresh to the winter’s big titles thanks to getting them as Christmas pressies I worry that the early January release may fall flat. However for those looking to revisit this game, people with fond memories of a cult classic, they’ll find it a joy still to play and well worth a look. It plays brilliantly, has a really tough challenge to the gameplay and still inhabits all that charm and uniqueness you remember.

I especially appreciate that along with the base game, they brought Knives and Wallace with it since you originally had to pay extra for it. The combat is fun, the controls are fair and understandable, and the bosses are well handled. I always wished I could play the original game, so I was so excited when they announced the rerelease of it, and I am not disappointed. Definitely play this if you loved the original game, the graphic novels, or just are a fan of beat-em up games. Expand

It is usually fun, but there's a general lack of polish, perhaps most notably in the difficulty curve, which fluctuates on a near constant basis. While the video game adaptation of Scott Pilgrim is a bit disappointing and certainly doesn't live up to it's full potential, it is still a solid multiplayer beat 'em up title that many are sure to enjoy.
