The CM said the GDP of the state was Rs 10.90 lakh crore in 2015-16 (when the state was being run by the Samajwadi Party government) which has grown to Rs 21.73 lakh crore in four years. "If it has increased more than twice in four years, then when we come to power after 2022, UP will become the largest economy. The team is working towards that goal," he said.
He said the per capita income in 2015-16, when the SP was in power, was Rs 43,000, which has now increased to Rs 95,000.
"Four years ago , UP was known as a Bimaru state. A state with such a large population had a budget of Rs 2 lakh crore. For such a big state , for development of villages ,cities , youth , women, there was no importance attached to expanding the size of the budget. In 2015-16, UP was on the 14th rank in ease of doing business. Today it is on the second spot. The machinery and sources of revenue are the same, only the faces have changed," Yogi said in his address on Thursday.

If corruption is curtailed brutally and social inclusion improves, good days can come. But no govt should claim such credit exclusively. It is by far the credit of the people who elect the govt in democracy. |
