Bonn, 26 October - At its 43rd meeting last week, the JISC discussed the implications of the entry into force of the Doha Amendment for the operations of Joint Implementation and agreed on the need to better understand the likely activity level for the mechanism in respect of the second commitment period.

In Remembrance of Our Colleague Rajesh Sethi

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague and friend Rajesh Sethi. Mr. Sethi had been a valued staff member of the UN Climate Change secretariat since 2011. His association with the secretariat was even longer. He was part of the Indian delegation to the UNFCCC since 2002 and served as Chair of the CDM Executive Board in 2008.

JISC meets again
in virtual setting

17 September 2019 – The Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) held its forty-second meeting, for the second time in a virtual environment. Prior to the meeting, members voted to elect Mr. Kyekyeku Oppong-Boadi, from Ghana, as Chair, and Ms. Vanessa Leonardi, from Italy, as Vice-Chair.

JISC elects Chair and Vice-Chair for 2017

Bonn, Germany, 19 May 2017 – The Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) at its 40th meeting held on 19 May elected Mr. Albert Abel Williams, Member of Parliament, Vanuatu, and Ms. Gherghita Nicodim, Counselor at the Ministry of Environment, Romania, as Chair and Vice-Chair, respectively.

JISC elects Chair, Vice-Chair for 2016

Bonn, Germany, 17 March 2016 – The Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) at the start of its 38th meeting elected Konrad Raeschke-Kessler, an official in the German Federal Environment Agency, and Albert Abel Williams, Member of Parliament and Special Envoy for Climate Change, Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction, Vanuatu, as Chair and Vice-Chair, respectively (left to right in photo). Both will serve in their executive capacities until the first meeting of the JISC in 2017.

Joint Implementation

Under Joint Implementation, countries with commitments under the Kyoto Protocol are eligible to transfer and/or acquire emission reduction units (ERUs) and use them to meet part of their emission reduction target.

ERU issuance
