Meet the force for science

“I like the mission of Science’s news section, which is to cover the world of science for scientists and for people who care about science in an honest and complete way.”

Tim Appenzeller

Tim Appenzeller, News Editor, Science News

"I had never edited news before but only worked in magazines. The idea of learning about covering news was exciting to me as AAAS is one of the best places for science news. The first time in the ’90s, I joined as a Deputy News Editor. I came back 5 years ago because I had the opportunity to run the whole news department with a great staff and audience, so I was excited to see what I could do shaping the whole thing."

“People here want to help you be successful. That is what it’s all about.”

Ingrid Harris Herbert, Executive Assistant to the CEO, Executive Office

"No two days are the same. Sometimes my role is like putting a jigsaw puzzle together without having seen the picture on the box. Challenges are what I enjoy."
