The US hedge fund Elliott Investment Management is available to provide possible financing for a Manchester United takeover — but is not bidding for the Premier League club.
A ‘soft deadline’ of Friday had been set for proposals to buy the club, with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, chairman of one of Qatar’s biggest banks, and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe tabling offers.
