    About the Author

    Mary Beth Flynn Makic has more than 30 years of critical care experience in research, evidence-based practice, and clinical education. She is a Professor at the University of Colorado College of Nursing and Program Director for the Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist graduate
    program. She is also a Research Scientist at a Level I trauma center in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Makic
    achieved her BSN from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. She completed her Masters of Science at the University of Maryland at Baltimore with a focus on trauma patient populations and the advanced practice role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Her PhD was conferred in 2007 by the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. She is active locally and nationally in several professional organizations. She recently served on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. She also serves on the editorial board of several critical care journals, has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and is a successor co-author of two Elsevier books on nursing diagnosis. Dr. Makic is well known for her passion for improving patient outcomes and nursing practice through evidence-based practice.

    I just received this book brand new with access code and shrink wrapped. (Great!) After looking through it, I KNOW this is going to help me with my care plans I have to create this year with 2 clinical rotations each semester. I can't wait to use it! There are nursing dx's and care plan guides for each nursing dx. They aren't super long either so you're not turning in a 20 page care plan and using up all your time writing them 😉 cause lets all be real, we don't have time for that in nursing school! I will update my review mid semester and let yall know how it's going! Happy nursing!

    DO NOT purchase from here you will not have access to the e-book on the Elsevier Reader app. The book is new and I redeemed the access code but this is only for some supplementary content. Unless you want to lug every one of your nursing textbooks with you wherever you go, the few dollars saved by buying from any site other that the Elsevier site is NOT WORTH IT. The book arrived new and shrink-wrapped with the access code still covered. I was able to redeem the code but now I cannot return and I do not have access to the e-book. These nursing textbooks are HUGE. Do you want to carry them to and from classes or school or the library? I do not. Huge mistake I will not make again. Now I will have to purchase the E-book access from the Elsevier website and this costs as much as the physical book itself. If I had purchased direct from publisher I would have the E-book included in the purchase price, which was only a few dollars more than what I paid for on here. This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it.
