Breaking up is hard to do--but that doesn't mean you can't have some belly laughs about it. Forgetting Sarah Marshall provides that rare treat: a romantic comedy about breakups, that is both romantic and funny. The laughs, especially from writer-star Jason Segel, are both heartfelt and raunchy, and the film is just unexpected enough that it keeps the viewer's attention till the end. The touches of producer Judd Apatow, who's famously retooled rom-coms to appeal to guys as much as women, are woven throughout the film, but Segel's script, reportedly based on many of his own experiences, is fresh and original. And adult. Forgetting Sarah Marshall features male genitalia laffs presented in unexpected and human ways (the nude breakup scene is played for giggles but also deep poignancy), and the language and sex scenes are strictly for grownups--and rightly so. Segel's script, and his performance as Peter, show that he understands the true nature of adult re! lationships, which provides the refreshing difference between this film and some of Apatow's other crude creations. The cast is sublime; Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) plays title character Sarah, a self-absorbed actress, and Russell Brand is her new British honey who accompanies her to--what are the chances?--the exact same Hawaiian resort as Peter, who's nursing his broken heart. Mila Kunis plays Rachel, the resort employee who gives Peter a reason to hope, and Paul Rudd is the surfing instructor who gives him his own brand of heartfelt advice ("When life gives you lemons, just say 'F--- the lemons' and bail," he says cheerily). The pacing is screwball, and the absurdities fly (a "Dracula" musical puppet show, and a surprisingly lovely Hawaiian version of "Nothing Compares 2 U"). Nothing the viewer will forget any time soon.--A.T. Hurley

Laughed my ass off!!

Hey, what can I say, between the ever hot and lovely Mila Kunis (That 70's show) and Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), and the beauty of Hawaii with bikinis as casual wear, well how can you go wrong! Well written and acted, with an easily relatable plot and just the right amount of angst and comedy, I found it thoroughly enjoyable. Though not overt, the memorable sex scene in Kristen's motel room sticks with you, as will the piece of original music performed by Jason Segel (How I met your mother) as he finally decides to follow his muse.

This movie had me laughing out loud in several places, once I even had to pause the DVD to laugh so I didn't miss the next scene! The story is about 1 couple breaking up and the boyfriend is now trying to get over his now ex-girlfriend. The ex-gf already has a new boyfriend, and they end up at the same vacation resort. Obviously they then encounter awkward situations-- that make the viewers laugh! This is a comedy with somewhat adult themes-- so people who dislike that type of humor may not enjoy this movie.

This movie is hillarious! One of my favorites. When we moved into our new house as broke teens we couldn't afford cable so we watched this movie about a hundred times and it never got old. One day it went missing and we were so bummed so to suprise my roomie I ordered another copy. The price was awesome and it was delivered in good time. My roommate had already ripped it open and had it in the dvd player when I got home from work. We'll be sure not to lose this copy!

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the latest in a growing category of Judd Apatow-inspired raunchy comedy genre. Forgetting Sarah Marshall is written by and stars Jason Segal. Segal is an actor I wasn't familiar with but has been on television in the show "How I Met Your Mother."

In this film, Segal plays Peter, a composer for a hit CSI type show that stars his girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). Marshall breaks off their relationship and Peter is devestated. After trying his luck dating other women, Peter's brother Brian (a great character played by Bill Hader) convinces Peter to take a vacation. Peter goes to Hawaii, a favorite place of Sarah's, and when he arrives, finds Sarah vacationing with her new boyfriend, Aldous Snow (Russell Brand).

Hilarity ensues as Sarah and her boyfriend Aldous, a womanizing British rock star, live out their new relationship over heart broken Peter. Peter does find a ray of hope in the attractive hotel clerk Rachel (Milo Kunis). Peter slowly begins to develop a relatioship with Rachel while fighting the lingering feelings for Sarah.

The new trend the Apatow comedies is to shock the audience with its language and adult comedy. This movie tries that too, but if you pull away the gimmick, you still have to have a story, and this movie does. Peter is truly heartbroken at losing his girlfriend. Sarah is confused about whether or not she still loves Peter. Rachel is a sincere, normal girl.

There is a lot to like about this movie. I loved the cast. Segal, Bell and Kunis have all been on television but I'd never watched them, so they were new and fresh to me. Apatow regulars Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill also have strong supporting rolls. Russell Brand is great as the weird British rockstar. The red-headed newlyweds are great. So is Peter's Dracula opera. And the clips of Sarah Marshall's CSI type show are pretty funny too.

This movie is a lot of fun. The strong story made the comedy that much better. Still, a warning for those concerned. There is nudity, swearing, and sex so it is not a movie for children. This is a comedy for adults as opposed to one like Superbad which I thought was more for college kids.

This movie is in my top 5 of all time funniest. Jason Segal plays a heart broken boyfriend who tries to excape to Hawaii after his famous girlfriend breaks up with him. They end up at the same hotel and it's comedy gold from there. vanessa hudgens Is absolutely beautiful.

If you like knocked up you'll love this movie. If you don't laugh in the 1st 10min there's something wrong with you.

This movie I have had to watch over and over! Jason Segel is SO FUNNY! The whole movie kept my attention and it was laugh after laugh! You have to get the unrated version and watch the other version, not the theaterical. This dvd gives 2 versions of the film. I love the scene where he is doing yoga and attempting a head stand! Hysterical! This Jason Segel is a big break out star from this movie and I really look forward to seeing him in more films.
