Broadcast and DVD Release of Orguss, Nobody's Boy Remi and Cat's Eye coming from ImaginAsian

DVD Releases in Late June, Early July, following Early June Broadcast Premiere

ImaginAsian Entertainment, owner and operator of iaTV, will announce today that iaTV will begin broadcasting Orguss, Nobody's Boy Remi and Cat's Eye season 1 on June 5. The three anime will be broadcast in Japanese with English subtitles. They will be part of a block of programming produced in cooperation with TMS called "TMS Presents: Anime Classics." The block will air Monday to Friday, with a new episode of each series daily. Broadcast time has not yet been decided on.

The first 17 episodes of Orguss were previously released on home video (VHS) by US Renditions in the early 1990s, however the other two series have never been legally available in English. All three series were acquired from TMS Entertainment.

In addition to the TV broadcast, ImaginAsian informed Anime News Network that they will be releasing all three series on DVD. The DVD's will be manufactured to order using technology from TitleMatch Entertainment Group, which uses CSS encryption and region coding on DVD-R media.

All the source material is digitally restored, as seen on the Japanese region 2 DVD releases.

Each series will run for 8 volumes, with 4-7 episodes per volume. The first volume of each series will cost $12.99 and come in an inch-thick keepcase that will hold all eight discs. Subsequent volumes, planned for monthly release, will come in a Tyvec sleeve and will cost $9.99. Once each series is complete, it will be made available as a complete collection. We were told that it is unlikely that there will be much, if any, reduction in price for the complete series, since the per volume price is already "so low." Should their be no discount, the entire series would cost $83. The complete collections will be identical to the individual releases, with the same case and the same 8 discs. ImaginAsian is exploring the possibility of allowing consumers to "subscribe" to a series, having each new volume automatically shipped to them as soon as it is released.

The DVDs will only be available directly from ImaginAsian, they will not be available from other retail outlets. This will be a limited pilot program, and will only be available for a limited time. The discs will not be discounted or wholesaled. "If the program is successful, we plan on bringing over other forgotten anime classics," said David Chu, senior VP of Programming and Production at ImaginAsian.

Nobody's Boy Remi and Cat's Eye season 1 will only be available with subtitles, however the first 17 episodes of Orguss will include the English dub produced by US Renditions. US Renditions only dubbed the first 17 episodes.
