Bell became a teacher of Vocal Physiology in Boston in 1871 and devoted himself to teaching deaf-mutes as well as spreading his father's system of "visible speech". His invention of the articulating phone in 1872-76, the photophone in 1880 and the graphophone in 1887 brought him fame and wealth. So, he didn't teach for many years and worked on his inventions.
