'Lost arboretum' project to honour Bath suffragettes

Trees are being planted in Bath in place of a torn down arboretum which was created to honour suffragettes.

The original arboretum was planted between 1909 and 1912 at Eagle House in Batheaston, a sanctuary for those involved in the illegal suffragette movement.

The arboretum, which honoured 60 local suffragettes, was ripped up to allow a housing estate to be built.

The new trees will be planted in Bath's Alice Park, Royal Victoria Park and on Bath Spa University's Newton Park campus.
