Beeswax is a natural compound secreted by female bees that is often used in cosmetics, particularly lip balm. This substance is very moisturizing, can help protect the lips from the harmful rays of the sun, and has a pleasant smell. It can also help prevent infections and cold sores. Beeswax balm has uses other than as a lip balm, and it is fairly inexpensive and easy to find.

Many consumers find beeswax appealing because it is a natural compound. Many lip balms contain a number of complex, man-made chemical compounds. Some consumers prefer all-natural products, which may be less irritating. Some scientists, however, advise individuals with bee allergies to avoid using beeswax cosmetics.

Beeswax lip balm is very moisturizing, which is another major benefit. Beeswax contains natural emulsifiers, which help retain moisture in the skin. This is especially helpful for dry lips and chapped lips.

Ultraviolet (UV) rays given off by the sun can be very harmful to the skin. Although many individuals take measures to protect most of their body from these rays, the lips are often forgotten. Using lip balm with beeswax, however, can help protect the lips as well.

Beeswax has no color or odor when it is first produced. As it sits in the honeycomb, however, it absorbs the smell of the honey produced by the bees. This gives the beeswax a slightly sweet, honey-like smell. Beeswax lip balm also has this sweet smell and taste.

Research has also discovered that beeswax contains small amounts of natural antibacterial agents. This is especially helpful for individuals who have excessively dry and cracked lips. These antibacterial agents can help prevent a painful inflammation that comes with an infection.

Although it is marketed for lips, beeswax lip balm will also work on other areas of the body that suffer from dry skin. Dry hands, knees, and elbows can all benefit from this type of lip balm. Of course, the lip balm should not have any dyes or other colors if it is applied anywhere other than the lips.

Beeswax lip balm is relatively easy to find. It is available in most pharmacies and large chain stores. Most of the time, it can even be found in convenience stores. It is also fairly inexpensive. A tube or pot of this lip balm will usually only cost a couple of dollars.

I also make lip balm from beeswax and usually order all of my supplies from one place to save on time and shipping. I have found good prices and fast service at Wholesale Supplies Plus.

This online company has a wide variety of supplies, including everything you need to make your own lip balm and several colors of lip balm containers. The beeswax comes in a powder type form that is easy to measure.

Beeswax is good for so many things that you just can't go wrong. I enjoy making my own natural lip balm. You can buy beeswax from a local bee keeper or online through many suppliers who sell soap and candle making supplies.

It is so easy and quick to make and only has a few ingredients. An easy beeswax lip balm recipe is to melt 1 part beeswax to 4 parts of olive oil and had a couple drops of liquid Vitamin E and pour into tubes. You can also add some essential oils for flavoring if you wish. My favorite is peppermint oil.

Lip balm that is made with beeswax is by far the best lip balm that I have ever used. I am one who constantly has a tube a lip balm with me and hate having dry lips.

I have noticed that if the lip balm has beeswax in it that I do not have to apply as often, and my lips stay softer and smoother longer. This works especially well in the winter.

Because beeswax is so economical, and so good for you, it makes sense to look for lip balms that have beeswax in them.
